Chinese Gardens

Photobucket

I had never been to the Chinese Gardens as a child, not that my parents didn’t try – I do sort of remember being brought there to be lost amongst the other Asians attempting a family outing that was free (the entrance was free back then, it’s $6 now – and for some stupid reason it comes with a map of the place). My parents did take us to many places that were free, but hay – we came from a poor immigrant family, what the fuck else were they supposed to do when they were trying to work their way out of rent. And what the fuck did we care, we were going on a train to the city and that was that. Anywho – there are only so many times my mother could bring us to Marrickville & Newtown (before it went gay) to take a shopping and eating Chinese Pork Rolls. Read more »

Sydney Aquarium

Photobucket

I had not been to Sydney Aquarium since I was very little. I think it was when I used to go to Stanmore Public School as a child, a school where kids probably had some sort of future. I think I went to school the son of a former minister for Education. Anywho, it was good to see how much the place had changed, and there was plenty of things to do. But was funny when I was talking loudly in line, swearing in French thinking no-one could understand me. I guess it’s the same when I bitch loudly in filipino thinking no one can understand me … only to find angry people looking at me. Read more »

Hunter Valley

Photobucket

Australia’s equivalent to Bordeaux, the Hunter Valley. I am trying to find comparisons but I can’t, since Bordeaux’s wines are world renowned, it’s city is gigantic and with heaps of major Historical/Medieval Sights and Bordeaux has the longest shopping strip of all France. But the Hunter, it doesn’t have a city, but you’re not there for the city, you’re there for the peace & quiet. Doesn’t have Historical sights, actually it might have Aboriginal burial sights, but they probably built the vineyards over them – and if people want to go shopping they’d just go to Sydney anyway. To top it off though, the Hunter Valley has wild kangaroos bouncing every where. How’s that? (Btw above view is the Audrey Wilkinson Vineyard). Read more »

Food in Sydney

Maz’s Obsession

Maz is the chick that knows the shit, need to eat somewhere good, she’s been there -  she has this very detailed knowledge of the places to eat/drink especially in terms of tea. Black Tea though, which is crappy, Green Tea is like heaps better. Anyways, our regular hang out recently is T2 in Macquarie Centre for High Tea (yeah, yeah, I know – with the stupid gay cups) & if we’re actually hungry we eat at the Inferno Cafe which is also in Macquarie Centre. It has the worst service in Sydney, staff are generally rude – but that’s because they probably recognise us, and we’re probably the rudest customers they have, talking about Vaginas & Ding Dongs – coming up with new theories in regards to Vagina’s and Ding Dongs, important theories that everyone should hear while they’re eating lunch. (Btw the moccha is from Max Brenner, I fucking hate the way they serve that shit in that stupid cup).

Bush-walk in the Jungle – I hate walking …

Photobucket

For the people who’ve read theunaustralian know how lazy I am. I gotta say though, for myself – the first time I was in Rome I was walking 5hours straight – but I was actually looking at stuff like monuments, statues and white people. In the jungle, you’re basically looking at jungle. Maybe I was looking for animals, but I wasn’t really hopeful considering I didn’t see any wild animals last year except that tiny crocodile on that boat tour. But I can admire the beauty for a little longer, if all goes well I won’t be seeing it again anytime soon. Seeing it more than a few hours at a time can be a bit overwhelming though, I should have brought a whole bag of food with me. Read more »

Cape Tribulation & the Daintree

Photobucket

This is HANDS DOWN the best beach I have ever seen in Australia. Honestly the most beautiful beach, I know I love Manly from the very depths of my cold, dark heart – but I can’t even describe what it was like walking through to this beach. I think part of the beauty is that the beach is completely surrounded by the Daintree, and that there are no people here (especially those darn noisy ass Amercans). AND the silence, there is no noise except the sounds of waves. I loved it there … it was like the most perfect part of Australia. Ha ha ha, but to get here, I had to drive 2 & half hours to get there, cross the Daintree river via a cable boat, 1 hr through the Daintree – the entire journey made up of hills and dark forest with VERY tight roads, parts of the road had rushing rivers running over it which we had to drive through with our Hyundai getz AND the worst part is I couldn’t really swim because of the plentiful & deadly box jelly fish present in all the waters of the Daintree … Read more »

RACISM!!!

Photobucket

I am APPALLED by the blatant racism found throughout the village. BLATANT I TELLS YA! – I mean, what are the local Aborigines supposed to think, cos there’s HEAPS of them in the village. I know golliwogs weren’t aborigines or whatever, but seriously … AND they’re being “hung” instead of sitting down like the rest of the stuffed toys. What is that supposed to be implying? Huh! HUH! OH … and tiny little one on the far right, that shit just ain’t right … I totally wanted to buy one for Maz …

Kuranda Village, Skyway & the Elusive Pygmy Koala

Photobucket

Waking up is a bitch sometimes – maybe I am reaching that age where I would like a holiday where I did nothing, because normally when I go on holidays, I am walking my brown ass around some shit – looking at some shit (well in my case, looking at white people). Anywho – I am forced out of bed to go to Kuranda Village – highly recommended by both my family & the pretty waitress last night at dinner (I meant, I wasn’t looking at anyone cos I would get my ass kicked – I meant, no one is prettier than my beautiful french woman!).  Read more »

Port Jackson, the Daintree & Mossman Gorge

Photobucket

So we wake up the next day, the weather is sucking balls as usual – but we have to take a cab to the Airpot to pick up the car I hired from Avis. It was a tiny, red Hyundai Getz. Fukn awesome car to drive around, especially because it was manual! Seriously, drive one – you’ll love how crap it accelerates. I am not lying, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Especially because my biche isn’t used to my way of driving (bah ha ha ha – no, I think I am a good driver though). Anyway, I decided to hire a car instead of doing a tour, since I have already done the last year – I can show her myself. So we started off with the 1.5hr drive to Port Jackon and then the 30min drive to Mossman Gorge (as seen above). Last year, I wholly regretted not being able to swim in the Daintree, and luckily I was able to do it this year. Marine on the otherhand was hesistant because of the Crocs (bah ha ha). Read more »

First time to eat at a Hotel!
Photobucket

In all my travels, I never actually ate at my Hotels. Mostly because I never stayed at Hotels, and there is no WAY I was going to eat at the Shangri La. So basically it’s because I am a cheap ass. But because the Hotel was quite a distance from the city, it was just easier to eat at the Hotel. Marine had never had wedges, seriously – you have to understand France is not a place where you normally eat fatty foods, whereas in Australia we have such easy accesss to it. Ma biche also commented that everything in Australia is served BIG – bah ha ha. And I was originally complaining that in France everything is served small, but it’s served in a perfect portion and tasted perfect. Read more »
