Food in Sydney
Maz’s Obsession
Maz is the chick that knows the shit, need to eat somewhere good, she’s been there - she has this very detailed knowledge of the places to eat/drink especially in terms of tea. Black Tea though, which is crappy, Green Tea is like heaps better. Anyways, our regular hang out recently is T2 in Macquarie Centre for High Tea (yeah, yeah, I know – with the stupid gay cups) & if we’re actually hungry we eat at the Inferno Cafe which is also in Macquarie Centre. It has the worst service in Sydney, staff are generally rude – but that’s because they probably recognise us, and we’re probably the rudest customers they have, talking about Vaginas & Ding Dongs – coming up with new theories in regards to Vagina’s and Ding Dongs, important theories that everyone should hear while they’re eating lunch. (Btw the moccha is from Max Brenner, I fucking hate the way they serve that shit in that stupid cup).

Cafe Mint – Surrey Hills

I have to say that the long ass walk here from Central is worth it. First time Maz took me here, we didn’t leave for ages the food was so good. They have the best Chai Tea Latte in Sydney I reckon. I can’t really think of where I have had it better. Though there is this Cafe in Madrid that I think rivals this one, it was hard to find, and I am sure I can remember where it is, if only I had another chance to get there again. Anyway, if you want a really good breakfast, this place is the best. Order the scrambled eggs, cos it’s NOICE. The scrambled eggs witht he turkish toast.

But as I’ve said – the best Chai Tea Latte – don’t judge me aiight, they’re nice regardless. Then later on I will have a manly moccha to make up for drinking the oestrogen in a cup.
Birkinhead Point
When you’re in the company of chicks, you rarely have the opportunity to have a say in actually what happens. Not that I can think of anywhere manly to go, cept maybe the pub which I don’t actually like going to in Sydney, that’s more of a London think if you permit me to be so pretentious. So naturally, places where there are lots of shopping and pastries is where I end up (T2 I will admit to liking though … ) Anywho, birkinhead point we go, a place for rich people version of outlet store, where things cost in the hundreds instead of the thousands.

Okay, so after a couple of hours of looking through hoards to branded crap, we head to a cafe – where I didn’t realise the dood serving us was French. I totally couldn’t tell, cos French people don’t wear so many piercings on their face, I just made the assumption he was some bogan working at a cafe, and to look out for hairs on my food. French people don’t seem to like acknowledging each other when they’re overseas, Filipinos do – we like to see how we’re going, and to figure out whether or not we’re illegal aliens. You make the assumption however, that French people are never illegal Aliens. If you’ve got brown skin, you’re always suss.

Anywho – I order us a cheese cake, mud cake and carrot cake – to satisfy the needs to the women. Presentation and taste were quite good, presentation heaps better than taste (probably because the French guy was working there, otherwise had it been an Australian, the cakes would have just been plonked onto a plastic plate). It was the cafe nearest to the boats and crap, sort of “trendy” looking inside, normal outside. If you westies are able to make it out there past the police barricades of your neighbourhood, you will probably enjoy it quite a bit, after buying nothing from the stores.
Max Brenner

A Jewish owned Chocolate specialist restaurant, people come specifically for the chocolate – as chocolate is in everything. I do prefer the Lindt cafe in comparison, but maybe it’s the Jewish thing, the guy who owns it apparently helps the Israeli army bomb poor Palestinians, so basically guys – if you buy from here, you help bomb Palestine! That’s right, you bloody do! I don’t really even like chocolate, but the chocolate is quite good!

It was a bit confusing trying to order something without chocolate, since you basically go to the restaurant for chocolate. I can’t BELIEVE they don’t have maple syrup. Some of US are lactose intollerant OR watching out weight, though I have to say eating ice cream and a waffle ain’t really watching any weight, but still. Maple Syrup COME ON!!! I should just went down to woolies to get me some.

They also don’t serve Chai Tea Latte – they have this vanilla version which is served from that complicated bit of machinery. You basically lift it above your cup, and the crap filters through.

As so – complicated way to drink it I think … tasted way too sweet for my taste, and there is basically nothing in the restaurant to drown the taste of sweet. I ordered a banana bread from Max Brenner once, and it was served with a huge pile of chocolate. This is definetly a place for people who like chocolate, if you like chinese food – go to Yum Cha!
